East Vidette Meadows to Forester Pass
Doug nearing the top of Forester Pass
Vidette Meadows (9,900 ft) where we started out this morning can be seen
way, way back in the forest below (green stuff above Doug's hand).
Doug and Bob at 13,700 feet elevation.
This day of ascent was actually more strenuous than the final trail
day to the top of the higher Mount Whitney. This is because we were
not as yet fully acclimated to the thinner air, nor adapted to carrying the
full pack weight. Very interesting part of the John Muir Trail coming
down the other side. Steep, skinny and sheer drop offs. Glad we
came up Forester from the "easy" direction.
This night we camped at Tyndall Creek located at 10,800 feet elevation.
