To Upper Guitar lakes

First thing in the morning we had to hike up several hundred feet from Tyndall Creek.  Then later we headed down to Wallace Creek at 10,280 ft.  On the other side of the creek we had to climb up almost 700 feet to 10,964 ft, then down to Crabtree Meadows at 10,448 ft and finally up another 1,100 feet to Guitar Lake at 11,600 feet.  Almost a half mile of up for the day.

At the upper Guitar Lakes campsite with the British Army

Four young soldiers in their 20's and their 40 year old Major traveled halfway around the world to spend a vacation of a lifetime hiking in the Sierras.  Always proudly displaying the English flag (attached to one of their backpacks - like Superman's cape).  They also carried a St. George's flag (bottom).  Doug and Keith (a TRW Satellite engineer hiking the entire John Muir Trail on his own) are holding the American flag.

Favorite Rock Art of the Trip

This was one of the most interesting shaped rocks Doug found.  It took some patience, but it was finally balanced perfectly on it's spike.  The young Brits who caught and passed us up were suckered in and told us they stopped to take several pictures of these "natural" wonders!

Surprisingly, it  turned out Bob and I were the "Ninja Mutant Senior Citizen Turtles" who kept catching up to the young hares!  They raced and then rested.  We moved along at a nice easy pace.
