SkyTran will provide huge benefits to families.
- First, of course, is the extra time parents will have available to spend with their children because they won't have to waste it in traffic.
- This, of course, also means that "Mom's/Dad's Taxi" can end by middle school, because preteen and young teenage kids can travel independently on SkyTran to a set of destinations their parents approve: school, friends' houses, practice/games, and all those piano/violin/ballet/tae-kwan-do/ lessons. Parents often notice that rebellious teenagers quiet down when they get their driving license, because they don't need to depend on their parents so intimately. We won't know until we can try, but younger teens may also benefit from some more independence. Certainly riding computer-chauffeured SkyTran will be a much safer and more controlled way for them to travel independently than their current alternatives: bicycling long distances on busy streets, riding in older teens' cars, or taking public transportation. Students are more likely to get that last assignment done on a quiet, uninterrupted SkyTran ride than on a raucous school bus, too.
- Grandparents will be able to travel independently to visit their children and grandchildren without worrying about a long or stressful drive (or worrying about having someone drive them if they don't drive).
