7a. F-18 Front Fairing Fiberglass Plug and Parts

The original carved, shaped, primered and wet sanded pattern (called a "plug") is used to make a mold for the final part. F-18 nose cone rests on "plug" used to make the mold (on the left) for laying up the actual front fairing.  Note the spray on green release agent coating covering the entire "plug".

Three clear canopy windows have already been heat formed from Lexan.  Bolt-on Left and Right control bar fairing segments not shown.
