Lesson #5: Earth - A Dangerous Planet

Ice and snow on the road, heavy rains at night, thick fog and high gusty winds are fairly common events.  Driving would be much safer for all if these hazards could be totally eliminated.  SkyTran technology and overhead travel principles does exactly that!

The progress of a SkyTran vehicle is not impeded by snow, ice, fog or rain.  Since the SkyTran vehicle is not driven by rubber tires on a road surface it is no longer affected by the limitations of the coefficient of friction between that rubber tire a the road surface.  It can start and stop at the same rate no matter how hard it is raining or how much ice covers the roads below.  Fog is irrelevant.  SkyTran's travels are computer controlled. SkyTran is fully automatic and does not depend on a person peering off into the distance to look for hazards ahead.  SkyTran does not even need headlights for nighttime travel!  Radar sees in the dark just fine!

Furthermore, the power module of a SkyTran vehicle is locked inside the hollow guideway.  For this reason a SkyTran vehicle cannot derail - another form of mass transportation accident that SkyTran simply eliminates.
