Happy Birthday to George Washington
First President of the United States of America and an Engineer
who served from 1789 - 1797 (Feb. 22, 1732 - Dec. 14, 1799)

The letter below was sent to the Transit 2000 campaign people promoting light rail in Arizona who misunderstand engineers and what they accomplish with the power of their minds.  (George Washington is referred to in paragraph two of section 3.)  Think about it and enjoy!

SkyTran, Incorporated's Chief Scientist, Doug Malewicki's
response to undated Transit 2000 Campaign Press Release:

"…the theoretical Skytrans, have been touted as possible solutions to the Valley's traffic and congestion issues. Sky trans technology hasn't been manufactured and probably never will be….." (The Transit2000 people also refer to us as the Pie-in-the-Skytran!)

#1. Our trademarked name is SkyTran™ not "Skytrans" or "Sky trans" as two separate words.

#2. SkyTran is much more than a mere theoretical solution to the traffic congestion and pollution issues. It is a blueprint for a complete paradigm shift in how we get people where they want to go when they want to go without having to rely on the automobile or some theoretically "effective" mass transit system.

Within the next two months, we expect a major high tech Arizona company to be ready to announce their formal alliance with SkyTran. This will give us a suitable location on private property to build and test our demonstration SkyTran system. Also, many qualified investors are ready to place their hard-earned money into SkyTran development and implementation as soon as this alliance is formalized. These people are not into throwing money away. They have studied the assorted technologies that go into a SkyTran system and can grasp the long-term profit potential. They are not stupid.

#3. Whenever I read words like: "…hasn't been manufactured and PROBABLY NEVER WILL BE...", I can only chuckle at the naiveté. Such statements usually come from someone who has never actually built anything in their life. These naysayers never have had an original innovative mechanical idea, nor worked to bring such ideas to useful fruition. They don't understand technology and don't have a clue about the process. They always lose.

Continuous technological innovation and invention is what has and continues to make America the world's foremost economic powerhouse. This year, National Engineer's Week will be celebrated from February 20 to 26. It is always celebrated during that same week to honor President George Washington's Birthday - our nation's first president and an engineer! It might come as a surprise to the naysayers, but the theme for the year 2000 is "Engineers: Turning Ideas into Reality!" That is what we do. I have been doing successful innovative projects all my life. It just takes a lot of work and persistence, no magic needed.

#4. To see what SkyTran looks like, to learn why it will become the premier choice for 21st Century commuting, and to understand why a privately funded SkyTran will be far more useful than the slow, slow, proposed "Valley Connections" light rail and bus system (that will consume $4 billion of YOUR tax money) please study our web site: www.SkyTran.net .

AND now a word from Herbert Hoover:
Thirty First President of the United States of America (also an Engineer)
who served from 1929 - 1933 (Aug. 10, 1874 - Oct. 20, 1964)

Engineering:  It is a great profession.  There is the fascination of watching a figment of the imagination emerge through the aid of science to a plan on paper.  Then it moves to realization in stone or metal or energy.  Then it elevates the standards of living and adds to the comforts of life.  That is the engineers privilege.

(Appropriate words for SkyTran!)
